GZT is a mountain hut (txabola) located at the very heart of Gorbeia Natural Park in the slope of Bizkaia, only 3 km from the top of Gorbeia mountain.
The term "txabola" refers to the constructions that the shepherds used during the time that the cattle were in the highest pastures.
The hut (txabola) has 70 square meters distributed in two double rooms and another with four spacious bunk beds.

The closest parking slot is in Pagomakurre. An easy 4km walking path
will take you to GZT.
It is located at an altitude
of 1,030 m.
- The water comes from a nearby spring. Anyway, there is always bottled water for the consumption of the customers.- The electricity is generated with solar panels; there are several 220v spins in the hut.- The hot water is obtained thanks to the firewood kitchen or by means of gas bottles.- Trash is recycled, there are containers for customers to separate. The organic refuse is composted.- Due to its location and characteristics, the mentioned services are limited so the use of them must be done in an appropriate and sustainable way with the environment
Remember that you will be staying inside Gorbeia Natural Park.
-SURROUNDINGS-
GZT is surrounded by huge grasslands, beeches and rocky terrain where
horses, cows, goats and sheep ... pasture.
The wild fauna consists of roe deer, wild boar, vultures, deer, foxes, badgers, alimoches ...
From the txabola, the emblematic Cross of Gorbeia is less than 3 km and the altitude difference is only 450 m.
There are plenty of routes to discover; Lost corners and routes in which to immerse ourselves in old forms of life not so distant in time, as those of coalmen, shepherds, icebreakers ...
Other routes will bring us closer to the mythology, legends or the characteristic toponymy of Itxina, a karstic labyrinth in which we can lose ourselves for hours.
Going through the mailboxes of the countless peaks around can be a good alternative for the stronger ones..
